Leading and managing a digital visitor experience project may feel like a daunting challenge. Don’t worry, we can support you throughout the whole project so your maximise the reach and effectiveness of your Info Point installation. We offer a full-service consultancy for places of worship, outdoor sites, museums and heritage sites and other cultural venues and organisations that need digital interpretation boards, audio tours and multimedia guides.
Services include:
In addition to free CMS training and telephone/email support with every Info Point purchase we offer a comprehensive service offering to help with all aspects of your project. If there are elements of the project that may seem overwhelming or outside of your skillset then we can undertake those tasks on your behalf.
Funding Support
We know most heritage organisations have limited funds. Let us apply for a suitable grant to deliver an Info Point project on your behalf. Our funding support team has over 20 years experience applying for heritage-focussed grants.
Through an Info Point grant bid, your venue benefits from new interpretation of your heritage and a better visitor experience through an exciting community-focussed programme. We benefit from delivering the project and seeing our product enhance your visitor experience. It’s a ‘win-win!’ situation.
Site surveys
Finding the ideal location for an Info Point at your venue might be limited to where you have a power supply, whether that is mains, battery or solar. However, if there is flexibility in this choice then there are many other factors to consider when siting your Info Point.
Wi-Fi is impeded by moisture, whether that is in thick, damp walls or leafy woodland. Metal too will reflect signals, sometimes to an Info Point’s advantage.
Our site survey will assess all of the factors that make your site unique and identify suitable locations(s) to position your Info Point. It may be in some circumstances that one or more Info Points or Extenders are required to gain full coverage of the area your desire.
A site survey usually takes a couple of hours, plus travel.
Website theming
Our Placemaker CMS has all the tools you require to add and edit content. You can even select the colours for each element of your Info Point’s website.
If you would prefer us to set this up for you prior to shipping then all we will need is an idea of a palette you would like us to use. This might be a Brand Guidelines document or something less formal. We’ll also need a high resolution version (at least 500 pixels square) of your logo (in PNG format with a transparent background).
Content Creation
As professional heritage interpreters we are skilled at creating content that will engage your audience. We cover the full gambit of ‘content creation’ from interpretive planning (devising themes, topics, objectives and storylines) to copywriting, audio and video production (including oral histories), 3D modelling and reconstructions, illustration and graphic design.
We are very experienced in devising trails and creating PDF guides that can be downloaded from an Info Point that can be enjoyed away from the range of the Info Point. If you are happy to write content but would like it proofed we also offer a copy editing service.
Interactive tours
Many of our customers like to include a multimedia tour on their Info Point which highlights key points of interest around the site. A floor plan with interactive ‘hotspots’ that when tapped open the relevant content page with rich content highlighting its virtues is a great way to engage visitors and share your stories. These interactive images can be applied to church and museum tours or used as a wildlife ID guide, for example – when a species is tapped a page opens to reveal more about that plant/animal.
If you have the skills and inclination you can create your own interactive floor plan. If you would prefer us to do this on your behalf then simply supply a plan or map with the places of interest marked (this can be supplied digitally or hand drawn) and we will do the rest. There is a charge for this service.
Interactive tour graphics can be uploaded to the PlaceMaker CMS like any other image on an Info Point and used on as many pages as required.
Site map and hierarchy
Not sure how to structure your Info Point website pages? Let us help you with that. In collaboration with you, we’ll understand what is important and structure the hierarchy accordingly. Key pages will be accessible from the top level navigation, with sub menus where appropriate.
We’ll present the site map PDF like a family tree so you can see which pages are ‘parents’ and ‘children’, with the Home page positioned at the top of the page.
Content Upload
We can also upload your content for you. If you are supplying the content then we will clearly advise on how this should be presented. As a rough guide we estimate 30 mins per page for this service.
Heritage Interpretation training
The Association of Heritage Interpretation (AHI) is a professional body that aims to promote excellence in the practise and provision of interpretation and to gain wider recognition of interpretation as a professional activity, this is achieves in part through recognition of this individuals across a range of sectors who gain full membership status.

Custom CMS enhancements
Whilst the Info Point CMS is feature rich there may be functionality you would like that it doesn’t currently have. We are very open to discuss the development of new functionality for the PlaceMaker CMS, subject to it aligning with our own roadmap and the wider needs of our platform.
Examples of clients requests that have resulted in new functionality include the development of a survey module and webcam integration.
