A solar-powered multimedia information hub.
Info Point Solar is the ultimate digital information hub for any location where a mains supply is not possible. The kit contains:
- 2x 60W Solar panels with 3m extension cabling
- Lockable weatherproof enclosure containing:
- 60ah lithium ion battery
- Bluetooth programmable charge controller (configure and check data using your phone)
- Outdoor-grade high-gain external antenna with 2m extension cable
- Switching, fuse, cabling and external solar cable connectors
- An Info Point
The Info Point Solar is a stand alone solution that can also be incorporated into an interpretation panel or mounted on a building to offer a unique digital visitor experience via the visitor’s phone or tablet.
The battery provides back-up power when the solar panel is not receiving enough sunlight. A 60ah capacity battery will provide approximately 96 hours of back up power. The charge controller can be configured via Bluetooth on your phone, when in range. This includes applying settings to switch on/off the Info Point at set points during the day/night. The most common setting is to power on the Info Point only between sunrise and sunset. We use Lithium Ion batteries (instead of sealed acid batteries e.g. used in caravans/motorhomes) because they are lighter (a 60ah lithium ion battery is 9.5kg), smaller, and can perform at sub-zero temperatures.
The Info Point Solar product is supply only. Read our handy blog about solar panel brackets.
The solar panels and enclosure will need to be installed by a suitably qualified person. Installation of the solar panels might be on the roof of a building or other sloping surface or frame. Solar panels should ideally face in a southerly direction (or east-west) and avoid shading throughout the year. The enclosure can be wall or pole mounted and we advise that a ‘shelf’ or bottom bracket is used to help support the weight. Ideally, the enclosure and panels need to be located within 3 metres as this is the standard length of the cabling between the two. As standard the cabling exits from the top of the enclosure, but if it is to be mounted outside then please contact us with further information.
The Info Point Solar weights 18.5kg. It measures 500mm x 395mm x 220mm. The 60W solar panels each weigh 4kg and measure 668mm x 425mm x 25mm.
Info Point power consumption is very low making solar an ideal option for power. An Info Point draws just 8W at 12V (0.7A).
The Info Point Solar comes with a 5 year warranty. All other parts come with a 2 year manufacturers warranty.
